although i am not 35 yet, this is music to my ears :) my bff, lele sent me this wonderful article from elitedaily.com entitled “study: women peak at 35 years old, become more confident”
i totally believe this! i can only speak for myself, but i feel more beautiful and fabulous than ever. i am definitely more confident, and know myself much better than i did when i was in my 20s…and from what i understand, it only gets better! one of my friends in her 40s tells me that even more freedom and confidence awaits, and calls this time “the f*ck it 40s” what fun! i can’t wait! :)
specifically, the article says “one in three women grew more comfortable with their appearance the older they became, while three out of four believe that their sense of style improved greatly after their 20s.“ this is definitely true for me. my fashion has greatly improved since i was in my 30s. as a matter of fact, looking at pics of some of my fashion choices from my 20s make me want to hide my face in shame! #tragique
another interesting quote from the article is “there is an assumption that your looks and sense of style are at their peak in your late teens and early twenties, but this research shows that it can take a while before you find a style and image that suits.” again, while my body may have been it’s firmest back then, i definitely wasn’t giving my best fashion, and playing up my attributes as well as i think i do now. i guess this just comes with age and learning what works for your body type. i think that now i have a better sense of what looks good and what doesn’t, and i don’t care about trends as much as picking looks that compliment my body type.
this article is so refreshing :) and while it seems that society is obsessed with youth, i love the fact that some of the most beautiful women in the world are in their early-mid 40s - jlo, halle, stacey dash - and are still considered the hottest in the game.
